True South Tree Service was formed out of necessity and desire.
My name is Nathan Taylor and I am the owner and founder of TRUE SOUTH TREE SERVICE. I graduated from Mississippi State University in 2009 with a Bachelors Degree in Landscape Contracting and Management. I started right out of college working for a company out of Tupelo, Ms who specializes in tree preservation. In short order I studied and became an ISA Certified Arborist (International Society of Arboriculture). I wore a lot of hats from: Field Tech, Mechanic, Marketing, Sales, and Consulting. I became very knowledgeable concerning trees and landscape issues from diseases, decline, insects, and soil problems and what treatments and remedies are warranted. I became involved with PAAM (Professional Arborist Association of Mississippi) where I received continuing education in the tree industry concerning current tree problems in the state and southeast, new and best practices in tree care, safety, chainsaw safety, rigging, and much more. I lived in Starkville working throughout the southeast for 3 years before the company had me move to the Jackson area in late 2012 to better manage Central MS. My family and I settled in Brandon, Ms where TRUE SOUTH TREE SERVICE is now located just south of Brandon near Braxton. I remained with my past employer for a total of 6¹/² years before being laid-off. I pursued looking for another job for 3 months before deciding to go out on my own in April of 2016.
Starting my own business was a longtime desire; since before college where I had my own lawn maintenance business growing up in Marietta, Georgia. I intended to start-up out of college and I had a business plan and everything, but with the economy and the advice of others I decided to get a job. Going out on my own was exciting and scary at the same time. I didn’t even have a truck, because my company truck got taken back and I had sold mine 6 years earlier. I was married and had 2 kids at the time to provide for, so I knew it was going to be tough, but I had faith that God would give me everything I needed. My dad helped me get a 96 2500 suburban to haul my 16 foot trailer I bought in college. I had some lawn equipment from high-school and carpentry tools so I started calling everyone I knew to get work and pass the word around that I could cut grass and do home repairs and like that TRUE SOUTH TREE SERVICE was born.
My goal and vision is to bring the Kingdom of God into my business and saturate the areas we work in and people we work for with the Love of Jesus. We strive to work and do everything with excellence as unto the Lord and not for man. I want to build a culture of honor and excellence in my business, well, God’s business. Nothing I have is of my own. I want to manage and steward His things well.
